CVSS v3.1 |
| A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's NVMe driver. This issue may allow an unauthenticated malicious actor to send a set of crafted TCP packages when using NVMe over TCP, leading the NVMe driver to a NULL pointer dereference in the NVMe driver and causing kernel panic and a denial of service. |
| A flaw was found in the ATA over Ethernet (AoE) driver in the Linux kernel. The aoecmd_cfg_pkts() function improperly updates the refcnt on `struct net_device`, and a use-after-free can be triggered by racing between the free on the struct and the access through the `skbtxq` global queue. This could lead to a denial of service condition or potential code execution. |
| A Marvin vulnerability side-channel leakage was found in the RSA decryption operation in the Linux Kernel. This issue may allow a network attacker to decrypt ciphertexts or forge signatures, limiting the services that use that private key. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tracing/syscalls: Use copy_from_user for the faultable syscall buffer
syscall_copy_user_array() copies the buffer argument of faultable
syscalls (write, pwrite64, ...) with __copy_from_user(), which skips
access_ok(). Use copy_from_user() instead so a non-user address is
rejected and the entry is recorded as faulted.
It could be a security concern for machines that trust perf a bit too
much. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
pid_namespace: prevent TIF_NOTIFY_SIGNAL from interrupting the reaper
Since commit 7fea700e04bd ("zap_pid_ns_processes: clear
TIF_NOTIFY_SIGNAL along with TIF_SIGPENDING") zap_pid_ns_processes()
clears TIF_NOTIFY_SIGNAL before every kernel_wait4() call. Otherwise
kernel_wait4() doesn't sleep and returns -ERESTARTSYS if
signal_pending() is true and the reaper busy-waits.
But clearing TIF_NOTIFY_SIGNAL doesn't fix it. It can get raised again.
For example, klp_send_signals() sets it raw against any task that hasn't
transitioned yet. And it keeps sending it until the livepatch finishes.
The sleep loop waiting for pid_allocated to drop has the same problem
and it doesn't even clear anything. So a schedule() in
TASK_INTERRUPTIBLE returns immediately.
Use a no_notify_signal guard. signal_pending() will ignore
TIF_NOTIFY_SIGNAL and the pid namespace reaper sleeps until a child
exits or free_pid() wakes it. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ntfs: take invalidate_lock in ntfs_filemap_page_mkwrite()
ntfs_filemap_page_mkwrite() calls iomap_page_mkwrite() without holding
mapping->invalidate_lock, so a concurrent truncate or fallocate can be
in the middle of invalidating pagecache and rewriting the runlist while
the write fault maps blocks and dirties the folio. This races with
ntfs_attr_fallocate(), which merges clusters into the in-memory
runlist, drops the runlist lock, and only afterwards zeroes the newly
allocated clusters on disk; and with the punch-hole/insert/collapse
paths that free clusters after truncating the cache.
Per Documentation/filesystems/locking.rst, ->page_mkwrite() must ensure
there are no truncate/invalidate races, "usually mapping->invalidate_lock
is suitable for proper serialization". xfs takes its mmaplock (= the
invalidate_lock rwsem) shared in exactly this path.
Take invalidate_lock shared around iomap_page_mkwrite(). The read-only
fault path is already covered because filemap_fault() itself grabs
invalidate_lock shared on instantiation/read paths; only page_mkwrite
was bypassing it in this driver. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
KEYS: Fix key_reject_and_link() race with keyring restriction
The restrict_link check in key_reject_and_link() is done before taking
the keyring semaphore, racing with a concurrent keyring_restrict()
that installs the restriction while holding the semaphore in write
mode.
Move the check to after __key_link_lock(), so it is done under the
semaphore, matching the pattern used in __key_create_or_update(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tracing: Reject incomplete event filter expressions
A non-empty expression normally finishes in predicate_parse()'s inner
loop, which resolves the pending logical operators before jumping to
finalization. If the input ends after an operator, possibly followed by
unary '!' tokens, the outer loop instead falls through with unresolved
operator state.
For example, "common_pid == 1 || common_pid == 2 &&" leaves
prog[0].target equal to -1. The second pass then reads prog[-1] before
the forward-jump check can reject it. Depending on adjacent slab
contents, it can also copy an out-of-bounds word into a branch target
that passes the forward-only check. A self-targeted perf tracepoint
counting event can reach this path through PERF_EVENT_IOC_SET_FILTER.
Reject the outer-loop fallthrough when a predicate has already been
parsed. This ensures that non-empty expressions only reach finalization
after the inner loop has resolved their operators. Keep the existing
no-filter error for input that has no predicates. Add a regression test
for trailing logical operators and unary negations. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tracing: Hold trace_types_lock when updating modules in persistent instances
trace_module_record() walks ftrace_trace_arrays from the module notifier
without trace_types_lock. A concurrent rmdir of an instance removes it
from the list and frees it under that lock, so a module load or unload
can walk into a freed trace_array. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ntfs: fix race between fallocate and mmap reads
The fallocate implementation only takes invalidate_lock for punch hole,
collapse range, and insert range operations. For standard allocation modes
(mode == 0, FALLOC_FL_KEEP_SIZE), the lock is not held.
During ntfs_attr_fallocate(), new clusters are mapped to the runlist via
ntfs_attr_map_cluster() before being zeroed by ntfs_dio_zero_range(). This
creates a window where concurrent mmap page faults can read uninitialized
disk data.
Since mmap uses filemap_fault() which takes invalidate_lock in shared mode,
it can fault in pages during this window and expose old disk contents to
userspace. This is an information leak and data integrity issue.
Fix by taking invalidate_lock for all fallocate operations, not just for
punch/collapse/insert modes. This prevents concurrent page faults from
accessing unzeroed clusters during the allocation window. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tipc: protect node reset trace dump with node lock
The tipc_node_reset_links trace event asks tipc_node_dump() to walk the
node's link entries. Unlike the other node events that request link data,
this event runs without the node lock.
This permits bearer teardown to free a link while the trace callback is
dumping it:
CPU 0 CPU 1
trace_tipc_node_reset_links()
tipc_node_dump()
l = n->links[0].link
tipc_node_write_lock()
kfree(l)
n->links[0].link = NULL
tipc_node_write_unlock()
tipc_link_dump(l)
tipc_link_dump() then dereferences the stale pointer. KASAN reported:

Take the node write lock around the trace event. This serializes the
dump against tipc_node_link_down(delete=true), which frees the link
under the same write lock. |
| A use-after-free flaw was found in the netfilter subsystem of the Linux kernel. If the catchall element is garbage-collected when the pipapo set is removed, the element can be deactivated twice. This can cause a use-after-free issue on an NFT_CHAIN object or NFT_OBJECT object, allowing a local unprivileged user with CAP_NET_ADMIN capability to escalate their privileges on the system. |
| An out-of-bounds memory write flaw was found in the Linux kernel’s Transport Layer Security functionality in how a user calls a function splice with a ktls socket as the destination. This flaw allows a local user to crash or potentially escalate their privileges on the system. |
| A memory leak flaw was found in the Linux kernel’s io_uring functionality in how a user registers a buffer ring with IORING_REGISTER_PBUF_RING, mmap() it, and then frees it. This flaw allows a local user to crash or potentially escalate their privileges on the system. |
| A race condition was found in the GSM 0710 tty multiplexor in the Linux kernel. This issue occurs when two threads execute the GSMIOC_SETCONF ioctl on the same tty file descriptor with the gsm line discipline enabled, and can lead to a use-after-free problem on a struct gsm_dlci while restarting the gsm mux. This could allow a local unprivileged user to escalate their privileges on the system. |
| The reference count changes made as part of the CVE-2023-33951 and CVE-2023-33952 fixes exposed a use-after-free flaw in the way memory objects were handled when they were being used to store a surface. When running inside a VMware guest with 3D acceleration enabled, a local, unprivileged user could potentially use this flaw to escalate their privileges. |
