CVSS v3.1 |
Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 does not check that a user account is authorized to access a repository before the repository is added as a member of a group repository. A user account that has signed in with valid credentials and holds the add or edit privilege on a group repository can add a repository that the account cannot read or browse, and then read the content of that repository through the group. The anonymous user can only do this if an administrator has explicitly granted it that privilege.
Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 allows a user account that can push manifests to a hosted OCI repository (a user account that holds the edit permission on that repository) to store script content in the artifact type field of an OCI manifest. The script runs in the browser of a user who opens the Attestations tab for the related image in the Browse user interface, with the permissions of the viewing user.
Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 contains a SQL injection vulnerability in the optional "Reindex Search Tables By Pattern" task. A user who holds the nexus:tasks:create privilege can supply a crafted filter condition that the database runs as SQL. This allows the user to modify data in the Nexus database. The task is available only when the non-default setting nexus.reindex.search.by.pattern.visible is set to true.
Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 returns the signing passphrase of an APT or YUM repository, through an internal REST endpoint, to a user account that holds only the read privilege for administering that repository. The account does not need the privilege to edit the repository.
Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 returns the private signing key of a YUM proxy or group repository to an account that holds only the read privilege for administering that repository. The account does not need the privilege to edit the repository. A party that holds the key can sign repository metadata as that repository.
Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 Pro does not check the local account status when a user signs in through a configured SAML or OAuth2/OpenID Connect identity provider. A user whose account was disabled or locked by an administrator in Nexus Repository can sign in again with valid identity provider credentials for the same account, and then receives a new session with the roles of that account. The attacker needs no Nexus Repository session and no Nexus Repository privilege. The attacker needs a named account that holds valid credentials at the identity provider. The anonymous user is not part of this attack path.
Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 does not require realm administration permission when a user creates a Rut Auth capability. A user who holds only the capability creation permission (nexus:capabilities:create) can create this capability, which turns on header-based authentication for the instance. A remote client can then authenticate as an existing user, including an administrator, without credentials.
A missing authorization check in Nexus Repository 3's NuGet Components API upload path allows an account holding only repository read and browse privileges to upload and persist NuGet symbol packages (.snupkg) to a hosted repository, bypassing the write-permission check enforced for ordinary package uploads. Exploitation requires a hosted NuGet repository with Symbol Server enabled. If anonymous access is enabled, the built-in anonymous user holds read and browse privileges across all repositories by default, so this precondition can also be met without an authenticated account.
Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 allows a user account that holds the edit permission on a hosted R repository to store script content in the metadata of an uploaded R package. The script runs in the browser of a user who opens the details of that package in the Browse user interface, with the permissions of the viewing user. In this description, a user account means an account that has supplied valid credentials. The anonymous user, if enabled, is also a user account and can hold this permission if an administrator grants it.
Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 allows a user that holds the role create or role update permission to grant roles and privileges that the account does not hold. This can give the user more access than intended, up to full administrative access.
Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to supply attacker-controlled input to a Java class loading call through an ExtDirect endpoint. This allows the attacker to learn whether specific classes are present in the application. The issue does not by itself allow code execution.
A user account with permission to deploy artifacts to a hosted Maven repository could upload a POM file containing an oversized metadata field. This causes future attempts to list or browse that repository's components to permanently fail until an administrator repairs the underlying data. Only the targeted repository is affected; other repositories and overall server health remain unaffected.
A user holding a permission to update privilege definitions could modify a wildcard privilege already assigned to their own role to grant broader permissions than they were authorized to hold, including full administrative access, without any additional authorization check or role reassignment.
An issue was discovered in Sonatype Nexus Repository Manager in versions 3.21.1 and 3.22.0. It is possible for a user with appropriate privileges to create, modify, and execute scripting tasks without use of the UI or API. NOTE: in 3.22.0, scripting is disabled by default (making this not exploitable).
Sonatype Nexus Repository Manager 3 Pro up to and including 3.30.0 has Incorrect Access Control.
Sonatype Nexus Repository 3.x through 3.33.1-01 is vulnerable to an HTTP header injection. By sending a crafted HTTP request, a remote attacker may disclose sensitive information or request external resources from a vulnerable instance.
Sonatype Nexus Repository Manager OSS/Pro versions before 3.25.1 allow XSS (issue 1 of 2).
Sonatype Nexus Repository Manager OSS/Pro version before 3.25.1 allows Remote Code Execution.
Sonatype Nexus Repository Manager OSS/Pro versions before 3.25.1 allow XSS (Issue 2 of 2).
An authenticated administrator who configures or tests LDAP connectivity in Sonatype Nexus Repository Manager versions 3.0.0 through 3.91.1 may be able to initiate unintended server-side connections when interacting with a malicious LDAP server.
