| SolidInvoice is an open-source invoicing platform. Prior to version 3.0.1, the REST API authenticator accepts bearer tokens via a `?token=` URL query parameter as a fallback to the `X-API-TOKEN` header. This causes long-lived API credentials to be recorded in server access logs, proxy logs, browser history, and HTTP Referer headers sent to third-party origins. Version 3.0.1 fixes the issue. |
| In CodeMeter Runtime from version 8.40 to (excluding) 8.41a and 9.00 to (excluding) 9.10, cmu.exe --create-io --file C: creates a predictable temporary file under C:\CM-Stick. The directory and
file paths are not properly checked for NTFS reparse points, such as junctions or symbolic links, before file
operations are performed. A local attacker can create a junction at the temporary file that points to an arbitrary
system path. Because CodeMeter Runtime runs with System privileges, this could allow arbitrary files to be deleted
with System privileges and potentially enable local privilege escalation. |
| SiYuan versions before v3.8.2 contain a path traversal vulnerability in the reader-accessible file-read endpoint that follows symlinks when opening authorized asset paths. Attackers with reader role can request a logical asset under data/assets/ that is a symlink to a file outside the workspace and receive the target file bytes, bypassing workspace boundary restrictions. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
pmdomain: mediatek: fix remaining %pOF after of_node_put()
scpsys_get_bus_protection_legacy() looks up several legacy bus
protection regmaps from device-tree nodes.
Two error paths put the device node before checking whether the regmap
lookup failed, but still pass that node to dev_err_probe() with %pOF on
failure. If of_node_put() drops the last reference, the later %pOF
formatting can dereference a freed device node.
Keep the node reference until after the error message has been emitted in
the infracfg and SMI lookup paths. Also drop the SMI node before
returning when the SMI phandle is missing. |
| A link following vulnerability in LXD allows an attacker to achieve arbitrary file read and write operations on the host system. When importing or unpacking an image archive, LXD fails to validate whether the metadata.yaml file is a symbolic link. An attacker can exploit this flaw by providing a crafted image archive with a symlinked metadata.yaml file pointing to target file paths on the host system. |
| Malicious calendar invitations could use file URI attachments to launch local or network-hosted executables on Windows, bypassing Thunderbird's normal executable attachment protections. With the new invitation display enabled, the attachment could also appear under a misleading filename. This vulnerability was fixed in Thunderbird 154 and Thunderbird 153.2. |
| A local vulnerability in the Winlogbeat Windows installer caused runtime files to be placed in a directory writable by unprivileged users. A low-privileged attacker with existing access to the system could pre-position malicious filesystem links, causing a subsequent elevated Winlogbeat operation to write to or delete arbitrary files. Successful exploitation could result in a denial of service. |
| The X-mount.subdir option uses a detached-tree fast path on Linux 6.15 and later and passes the configured subdirectory to open_tree() with AT_SYMLINK_NOFOLLOW. That flag does not stop intermediate symlink traversal or keep resolution inside the newly mounted filesystem. A local unprivileged user with an fstab-authorized X-mount.subdir entry can attach a host path at the intended mountpoint. |
| LiME through 1.12.0 fails to validate the disk acquisition output path and does not use O_NOFOLLOW when opening the operator-supplied path parameter, allowing unprivileged local users to overwrite arbitrary root-owned files. An attacker who controls the output directory can create a symbolic link with the expected filename pointing to any root-owned file, and when the acquisition runs in kernel context, LiME follows the link and truncates the target file with the memory acquisition stream. |
| openssl-encrypt (pip package) before 1.4.9 contains a symlink-following flaw in its verify-usb v2 added-file allowlist scan. The scan enumerated the drive with rglob(), which in CPython does not descend into symlinked directories and treats the symlink as an ordinary directory, while O_NOFOLLOW on the hash side binds only the final path component. An evil-maid attacker with physical access to the removable drive could replace a tool-tree directory with a symlink to a copy containing byte-identical files plus a planted __pycache__/*.pyc file (which CPython loads in preference to recompiling the clean .py). The planted file is never enumerated, added_files stays 0, and verify-usb reports PASSED, resulting in code execution when the victim runs the portable install. Fixed in 1.4.9 (affects both 1.4.x and 1.5.x lines). |
| A vulnerability in the Backblaze Client allows a local user to make the system not bootable by creating a link from Backblaze's folder to Windows OS system files during a backup. Successful exploitation requires an administrator-level system change that results in the absence of specific Windows OS security controls. This vulnerability is due to improper link resolution. |

| Weblate is a web-based continuous localization platform used to manage software translations. In versions prior to 2026.7, a project administrator can read files outside their repository through the App store metadata download feature, which resolves attacker-influenced paths without adequately confining them to the repository. This is an incomplete fix for CVE-2026-34242, whose original patch failed to fully prevent the path traversal, allowing the arbitrary file read to persist. A user with project-administrator privileges can therefore disclose the contents of files on the Weblate host that lie outside the project's repository. This issue is fixed in version 2026.7. |
| A flaw was found in GNU tar. When extracting an archive with the --one-top-level option, hardlink targets are not confined to the designated top-level directory and may resolve relative to the extraction working directory. A crafted archive can create hardlinks that escape the intended boundary and, when combined with a preexisting symbolic link under the working directory, may allow writing outside that boundary during a single extraction. |
| attr before version 2.6.0 contains a symlink traversal vulnerability in the getfattr and setfattr utilities that allows local attackers to escalate privileges by replacing a pathname component with a symbolic link during directory hierarchy traversal. Attackers who control a pathname component can redirect getfattr and setfattr operations to arbitrary files by substituting a symlink, leading to local privilege escalation when getfattr or setfattr is invoked by a privileged process over an attacker-controlled path. |
| aqua is a declarative command-line version manager written in Go. Prior to 2.60.1, pkg/unarchive/archives.go in the handler.HandleFile method calls os.Symlink with archives.FileInfo.LinkTarget without verifying that the target remains under the extraction destination. A later regular-file entry at the same archive path is opened with OpenFile using O_CREATE and O_WRONLY, which follows the attacker-planted symlink. A malicious or compromised package archive can therefore write attacker-controlled bytes outside aqua's extraction directory with the privileges of the user running aqua, potentially overwriting shell startup files, tool configuration, or writable executable paths. This issue is fixed in version 2.60.1. |
| RubyGems fails to re-validate path containment after filesystem symlink resolution during gem extraction. When a pre-existing symlink inside the destination directory points outside the extraction root, extracted files that appear to be written under the destination directory can instead be written outside of it, breaking the extraction safety boundary. The fix resolves the real path of the parent directory before writing and raises Gem::Package::PathError if it escapes the destination directory. |
| gix-worktree-state before 0.33.0 (part of gitoxide) allows writing files outside the worktree on Windows. gix_worktree_state::checkout() follows an existing terminal symlink during non-exclusive (incremental) materialization (destination_is_initially_empty: false) when core.symlinks is true. If a symlink entry (mode 120000) is first checked out at a path P pointing outside the worktree, a subsequent incremental checkout of a regular-file entry (mode 100644) at the same path follows the existing reparse point and writes the blob content through the link, overwriting files outside the worktree. |
| NLTK versions before 3.10.3 contain a filesystem containment bypass vulnerability in the Downloader.download and Downloader.incr_download methods that allows attackers to overwrite files outside the install root through pre-existing hardlinks. Attackers with write access to a shared downloader directory can create hardlinks pointing to outside-root files that are then overwritten during normal package extraction, mutating files outside the intended install tree. |
